The Future Is Beautiful : Saturday June 13th

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Come, get your swerve on and get ready to start the summer with a 14 hour The Future Is Beautiful rooftop marathon of music and food.

Live performances by Morgan Packard, Mon.key.pod, Todd Sines VS Archetyp, Thomas Hildebrand, Justin Gibbon, and Isomer Transition. DJ sets by Patrick Gallagher and special guests.

This month we are doing things very different - on a rooftop, donation admission, with some kegs, and a family style BBQ. We’ll have multiple grills setup, so bring some meat or veggies and throw them DOWN. Hell yeah! We’ll have some burgers and hot dogs to help feed the masses, but we are relying on y’all to ‘bring some good eats’ to add to the festivities. We’ll have 2 kegs of some brooklyn lager and the admission fee will be a true donation, suggested at $5, to pay for the sound system and support the artists. Don’t think that because it is a donation that you will get off easy tho, Rochelle is going to be doing her best to get money out of you.

Here is the line up.
Take a look on myspace for the info on each artist.

Devolution Series Original Art and Liner Notes

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

cover

Originally released in 2001 as ‘transelectronic_theory.devolution&&intimation.3′ this release had different covert art, different liner notes and a different track order. Original art above, and original liner notes and track order below.

process, product, evaluation & realization.

process :
developing a process in and of itself is a formidable task but it’s not the process alone that creates a substantial or noteworthy piece of art. execution and evaluation of said process and product with further development is often necessary. sometimes the idea itself sounds better than the actual product. if this is the case, than the product is inconsequential and the process that yielded said results can be cataloged and referred to for either abandonment or further refinement to yield noteworthy results. when the process does produce noteworthy results then the product is evaluated and further refinement of the process, if necessary, is commenced and the whole process begins again.

product:
when a product is attained (through utilization of the process) that is deemed ‘final’ (in the sense that further processing will only diminish the quality of the individual product) the product is then moved to the ‘product pool’ - the storage area for completed products - where it remains until there is enough product to do an evaluation. while product and process are closely related, they are none the less two distinct entities. one is an idea and a doing (process) while the other is the byproduct of action and thought (product).

evaluation:
the evaluative process is perhaps the most objective step in this first method of creating the object. evaluation is where the creator removes him/her self from the process and takes a close hard long look at the product and determines whether of not it (the individual product) has quality. quality, being completely subjective in the most objective part of the operation, should not be determined by novelty, but rather by longevity. this requires time hence the reason for this step to be completed only after many iterations of he first two steps.

realization:
the last step in this first method of the object is realization. this is where all the ideas, thoughts, data and product are looked at as a whole and individually and it is determined what avenues to follow further and which to abandon. this is perhaps the second hardest method due to the fact that quality has an inverse role to it’s status. processes that have yielded quality results must be scrutinized and used sparingly so that they don’t become habit. at the same time though, steps in the process that yielded the quantitative quality should be remembered so that individual events (processes in the process) may again be applied in another process to increase it’s chance to yield quality. on the other hand, process that yielded less then par results should be iterated over again with variations to see if there are any worth while conclusions to be found in the process’ process. this being the final stage in the first step of creating the object, upon completion, the quality products are then utilized and assembled using these same 4 steps to create a construct. this construct is also scrutinized by the same 4 steps to determine if it should be included in a collection. again, the collection after the constructs (assembled products onto a whole) are created is scrutinized to determine whether or not it (as a whole) has quality.

after almost a year of following this 4 step process, the final iteration of devolution&&intimation has taken shape. 9 constructs created and composed from august 2000 through jan 2001.

they appear in the following order:

construct_27
construct_14
construct_15
construct_25
construct_30
construct_13
construct_22.b
construct_12
construct_17

all constructs created by rj valeo.

Upcoming Release Details

Late last year The Wire Tapper featured ‘Monday Night’, a track taken from Richard J Valeo’s Modyfier Process contribution. This 4 track EP for Modyfier has recently turned into a full length release entitled ‘Days’ and is scheduled to be released on Io Records late spring of this year. 8 tracks of stripped down electronic glitchy goodness.

Also upcoming are ‘The Basement Tapes’ — select compositions harvested from the DATs that make up the ‘Transelectronic Archive’. Spanning the years 1992 - 2000, ‘The Basement Tapes’ are a behind-the-scenes earful of diverse musical landscapes created by RJ Valeo.

Io Records News

Io Records has been re-born as a digital label, with distribution primarily on Boomkat. With each release Io Records explores the diverse musical universe of RJ Valeo — both his own compositions and those by fellow musicians he feels fits the distinct vision of Io Records.

The Isomer Transition Story

All of the Isomer Transition releases revolve around, and build upon a single story. The releases and song titles represent different chapters and scenes in this story.

The story chronicles the adventures of Captain Rethan Doepfer and his team of renegade scientists aboard ‘The Mistress’, who are racing to locate and decode a mysterious transmission before it disappears.

With each successive Isomer Transition release, and select Richard J Valeo releases, the story evolves, more information is revealed, and the saga continues.

Shadowlands

Captain Rethan Doepfer is called to begin his journey by a mysterious transmission. The discovery of the transmission takes place on the ISLOO (Independent Scientific Lunar Orbiting Observatory). The transmission is received from a point in space that should not be transmitting anything as nothing shows up at that spot on any scans of the region.
When decoded the transmissions tells of…

  • A Dark Star where none was previously.
  • Where Heavy Water can be found on Io.
  • A Red Giant located in a neighboring galaxy where none should be or could exist based on the current understanding of Physics.

Read more of the story here.

And so that wraps up this edition of

Isomer Transition on RCRDLBL.COM

rcrdlbl_spot

Every once and a while something nice happens, and today it took the form of a spot on the RCRDLBL.COM home page. Please click here and both download the tracks and leave a comment about ‘Isomer’. The more downloads and more comments that happen/appear the more likely they (the website people) are to do a full-fledged feature on ‘Isomer’. That seems like it would be a good thing, right? Right.

Here is how all this came about. A few months ago I emailed them letting them ( RCRDLBL.COM ) know about ‘Isomer’ and what he was doing and asked if they would be interested in hosting some of his tracks on their site to give away, helping to promote his current releases. A few days came and went, and as things go, I completely forgot all about it.

Then, about a month later I heard back from them saying they would be interested and instructed me to upload some material to a special place and let them know when it was uploaded. At the time I was very busy preparing for an upcoming gig and wasn’t in ‘Isomer promotion’ mode so I put the email aside, and *ahem*, completely forgot about it.

A few days ago I was going through my inbox and came across the email. Shit! I wondered if it was too late. last night I fixed up my bio/press kit (so hard to say good things about one’s self, but in this game that is how it is played) and I uploaded it to them and shot them over an email. The very next morning (that would be today) I got a response letting me know it was up. Nice.

Today I put together a brief promotional email and sent it out to my list to help promote the feature on their site. We’ll see what happens.

The moral of this story is, if you keep at it, eventually you can cut through the noise, if only for a minute. :)

Gestalt Presents: The Future Is Beautiful 2.14.2009

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

picture-4The Future Is Beautiful is a monthly event dedicated to bringing you the best electronic music that NYC has to offer. Our approach is simple and two-fold: by focusing on local talent rather than a genre or style, we shed a spot light on, and provide a forum for the variety of producers, performers and musicians that emanate from NYC. Additionally, we partner with like minded organizations from other urban centers, such as Philly, London, Chicago, Boston, LA and Berlin to provide a portal from which artists from those cities can connect to and perform for an open minded and supportive audience here.

For our inaugural event this Valentine’s Day we have created a very special and romantic evening. To begin the evening we have decided to forgo music (just this once) and show a cinematic master piece by Fellini (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federico_Fellini), called ‘Cabiria’ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFU22LC3hDw). During the show we will be serving dinner from a limited menu that will be available at the venue. The food is wonderful and from the venue’s restaurant, Coco66.

Following TFIB Cinema we have selected a wide range of music to ‘get you in the mood’. Starting off we have Alexander Basset (recently transplanted from Chicago) beginning the evening out with some slow house and new disco. Following up Alex is NYC’s long time resident and TFIB resident Patrick Gallagher, representing NYC with some deep and minimal house and techno. After Patrick we have fellow TFIB resident, Isomer Transition, performing his first Live PA in NYC in over a year. With an inclusion on an upcoming Fabric mix CD, and DJ support from the likes of Claude VonStroke, Troy Pierce and Ryan Elliott, 2009 is off to a good start for Isomer. Following Isomer’s inaugural 2009 Live PA we have two of New York’s underground DJ scene’s rising stars to finish off the night, Kendra ‘You know you know me so I don’t need a last name, fool!’ (of Wax Doll’s fame), and the in-demand Jon Schmidt. Kendra has promised to bring the dance party with a DJ set of infamous french house, and Jon will anchor the night with some deep and heady minimal.

To make sure that the night sounds *proper* we are bringing in some amazing sound reinforcement from our friend Nick down in Philly. He has been doing sound here in NYC lately at the Bunker, House and Home, with Jason Carter and has an amazing sound system. Part of the Future being Beautiful includes enough bass, so we are being sure to bring it.

Coco66

Transelectronic News - Jan 2009 Edition

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

Atlanta

Greetings and welcome to 2009!

We have a lot of things coming up on the horizon here at transelectronic.net and we wanted to give you a brief update to keep you in the know.

Distribution
We are happy to announce that in addition to iTunes, Amazon, eMusic and other fine digital distributors, transelectronic.net releases will be being carried by Boomkat, the UK’s premier online outlet for fine electronic music. Up first on Boomkat is RJ Valeo’s return to off kilter beat production with “Programmatic Responses“.

Behind the Curtain
This year we will be presenting a series interviews, talks and conversations with artists and companies that push boundaries and create wonderful art. First up in this new series is Ezekiel Honig from Anticipate Recordings, followed by James Corker from Five12 Software, the company that makes the wonderful Numerology. This still-to-be-named series will be an intimate and personal look at the people that are making things happen in the electronic music world.

Site Design and Architecture Update
With all of these projects comes progress, and with progress comes change. We will be re-designing and re-developing transelectronic.net to better handle all of this new content. First off we will be breaking RJ Valeo’s discography and artist info off to it’s own site, followed by creating several different sections to group the content into, expanding the scope of the site beyond a blog and transforming it into a digital media outlet, complete with a digital label, magazine and curated download ‘bargin bin’.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback and support that has helped to make 2008 such a successful and wonderful year.

Cheers!

The Transelectronic Team
