I will be performing as Isomer Transition this Monday at midnight on the Percussion Lab Radio show in their new home, Sweet Revenge located in Clinton Hill Brooklyn. (May 9th 2011 at midnight). Gone are the days of keeping it quiet in Praveen’s living room and in are the days of 2am bass bins blasting! In contrast to past late night PLab DJ sets I have spun, I will be performing live as Isomer Transition, the space captain from the future who guides sonic journeys through inner and outer space.
Not sure what exactly that means? Here’s a link: Isomer Transition’s MNMLKTCHN May 4 2011 podcast: http://soundcloud.com/mnmlktchn/015-mnmlktchn-podcast-isomer
A few words about the Isomer Transition project: These sets are entirely improv, which is why no two sets sound the same. Beats are programmed on the spot, tracks are edited on the fly, and everything is remixed and reassemble as it is being heard. Live programming is layered with loops and tracks to create never-heard-before music.
The computer is played as an instrument, and is an aid in conducting a virtual robotic orchestra, guided to create electronic dance music. Robert Henke has written some good articles that try to put into words what is happening during a modern computer aided live performance.
Come out, have a good time, and enjoy some good music with some great people.
